The love of the truth

(J. C. Philpot, “The Valley of Achor” 1861)

“They perish because they did not receive the love of
the truth
, that they might be saved.” 2 Thess. 2:10

There is a receiving of ‘the truth’, and a receiving of
‘the love of the truth’. These two things widely differ.

To receive the truth will not necessarily save; for many
who receive the truth, never receive ‘the love of the truth’.

Professors by thousands receive the truth into their
judgment, and adopt the plan of salvation as their creed;
but are neither saved nor sanctified thereby. But to receive
‘the love of the truth’ by Jesus being made sweet and
precious to the soul, is to receive salvation itself.

“Yes, He is very precious to you who believe.” 1 Peter 2:7

Very good point, Laura. The article you’re about to read by Dusty Peterson also stresses this point.

    Hope you’re feeling better!

Hi Pearl, better today. dozing a bit from benedryl though. so we’ll see how long I sit and read.

The love of the truth. That verse jumped out at me many years ago.

And it’s part of what gives me something like eyeglasses when it comes to apostasy.

You know if you have poor vision and then you put on glasses. you see what you have always seen, but now you see CLEARLY, and the DETAILS you missed before.

Ever since then when I started encountering professing believers who are wanting to veer off the path toward another form of religion or it’s practices, I see that they don’t LOVE truth. They like it and it’s culture. But they quick to adapt ‘truth’ to their new ideas. And it’s no surprise to us that the GOSPEL starts to become NEGATED by those professing to be saved.

The atonement and it’s results are then always cleverly hidden in and behind the smokescreen of beautiful falsehoods.

I printed the 1st part of Beware False Balances.
So I can read it on the couch. LOL
And I can tell this article is one I need a copy of to give to my computerly challenged friends! LOL

and it is good to sometimes spread out the papers of an article to glance back at previous paragraphs and back down to the current part. Just the way I learn I guess.

Review, review, review. Then it sticks better.

I will print the other parts tomorrow and do the same.

better get reading while I can.

Just doing some rethinking and reworking of the blog.
